Fifth Annual Boat Building Festival - July 13, 14 & 15, 2008 in Monument Square, Portland

5th Annual Boat Building Festival- In this popular annual fundraiser, families, friends and co-workers experience hands-on boat building with the help of professional boat builders. Over two-and-a-half days, 20 teams of five people each build a 12-foot Bevins Skiff. Registration fees cover all tools, materials and professional instruction. After an exciting launch at East End Beach, teams return home with their very own skiff.

Compass Project Boat Building Festival

At the 2007 Festival, corporate boatbuilding crews hailed from Dead River Company, Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, Harborview Investments/Shipyard Brewery, Spinnaker Trust, and the Tenney Powers Group.

Businesses sponsored crews from the following youth groups: Boys and Girls Club (Spinnaker Trust); Preble Street Teen Center (Macdonald Page); A Company of Girls (Pierce Atwood); Jobs for Maine Graduates (TD Banknorth); Camp Susan Curtis (Dead River Company).
